When should you schedule your move? How far out? Do you require a deposit?
These are questions I get daily! And like many questions in life, it depends!
You should schedule as soon as you know you are moving. But check on the reschedule or cancelation policy.
I tell people this, I am much more able to move you to another day than I am able to schedule you for the next day! I know that you may not know your closing date and time and that it WILL CHANGE! It always does! I would say that 80% of the callers have at least 1 thing change between their first call to me and their actual move. There are a lot of moving parts to this process. You have to coordinate the closing, walk through, banking, packing, kids schedules, where to put Fido, where to keep your immediately necessary items (like medications and items needed for closing), changing utilities, forwarding mail, updating your drivers license etc, etc, etc! IT IS A LOT!
But I know that. After 18 years, I better know that! :)
So I tell moving families, GET ON A SCHEDULE, EVEN IF I AM NOT WHO YOU CHOOSE!
As things start to sort out and gel up, and your dates becomes more apparent, we can adjust with it. Because like you, other families are going through the same dance! So a date that was once booked up, can free up with 1 phone call.
You want to work with someone who understands this dance!
This is why I rarely require payment information until a few days before. I know that most of my competitors want it to book the move. That is their business model. But what works for me is to wait until a few days before. By then you know which card or how you are paying. In the early years we has so many people changing cards it just got to be too cumbersome. Also, I always worry about risk. The less time that information is in my possession, the less risk.
I view my job as a problem solver.
You need to be moved.
I need to find the most efficient and economical way to do that.
I do everything I can to make it smooth and easy for you. So many customers call me and tell me that working with me was the easiest part of the process. Moving is the 3rd most stressful life event, I try to reduce that as much as possible!
Stay well my friends!
