I get asked this question a lot as well.
"WHAT IF IT RAINS??"
We work.
That is right, the mailman doesn't have anything on us! We work in the rain.
"But, but, my stuff. Won't it get wet??"
Truth is, it could. Depending on a lot of things.
How far is the door to your house, apartment etc to the back of the truck? The farther the distance, the more change of getting wet.
We do wrap the goods with pads and stretch wrap. But we still don't want to have it exposed any longer than needed.
How hard is it raining? Let's be honest, no one REALLY wants to move in the rain, but sometimes it is unavoidable. I say we work unless it is unsafe. Typically a torrential downpour only lasts a short time. We can pause for that time for safety reasons.
Can I just reschedule for another day? Yes you can IF it is rescheduled before we show up. We really prefer at least 24 hours but will work through each situation as it occurs.
Can I file a claim for water damage if we move in the rain? You can file it, but it won't be approved. That's the reality. It was your decision to go forward with the move. We do our best to protect your goods.
What about my carpet? Again, we will do our best to mitigate dirt and water, but we are moving furniture. It would be best if you have the carpets protected with a carpet mask that can be purchased at a big box store. We also can't have the movers working with no shoes. Sometimes, we can leave a mover inside with shoe protection and have the other movers bringing items to the entrance. But again, if it is an item that needs 2 people, then it complicates it again. The 2nd worker can put the booties on, but once he goes back outside, those are rendered useless. It could be organized where they bring in multiple 2-man items, then protect their shoes and place them throughout the house. Again, this is a fluid (ha ha) situation and dealt with on a case by case basis.
We want to do what it takes to make your move go smooth.
I told a customer once, "I control a lot of things in my world, but the weather is not one of them. "
Reach out to me if this is a concern and we will discuss the parameters and expectations. Everything can be worked out!
